“When it comes to bags, luxury goes hand in hand with practical innovation.”— Coco Chanel
Studio Sif emerged from the search for the ideal dog bed for my wiener dog Sif. A basket that would be a beautiful accessory in my interior and a pleasant spot for Sif. The basket had to be easy to use, easy to take with you on weekend trips, and washable. I wanted a solution for everything. I could not find this wish list in any dog basket. Based on this philosophy, I designed my first own dog bed in the 'denim classic' variant.
Due to the overwhelming positive responses to this design and the demand to make dog baskets for others, I founded Studio Sif in 2017.

What is Sif's favorite Pooch Pouch?
Sif loves every basket that I make. It often happens that I "lose" Sif and then I find her among the new baskets I made. First time that happened was kind of scary because we didn't know where to look for her. Now it is the 1st place we look. But as soon as I pick up her own basket to leave she is next to me, that remains her all time favorite. That is the 2nd basket of all the baskets I have ever made. This one has been taken everywhere, as far away as Greece.
Where do you take the Pooch Pouch to?
We take the basket everywhere. Short visits to friends or family, weekends away, on vacation, taking it to other spaces, in the car, on the boat and in the camper, etc. If there is a trip with Sif where she probably wants to lie down for a while, the basket is with her. On vacation it is ideal, Sif always has her basket which smells like her with her. So in the unfamiliar hustle and bustle of everything she has something familiar and she likes that very much. If we fly, for example to Greece, the basket goes in a vacuum bag so it does not take up much space in the suitcase, on arrival immediately out and in the evening to the restaurants along the boulevard, always the basket with us. Lying everywhere while we enjoy a delicious dinner. The basket is also super ideal for a boat/sail trip or in an RV. It takes up no space at all. And if it gets dirty from the boat or camper trip, just pop it in the washing machine.
What are your other dog must haves?
Since a few years the Pouch Roll, easy for just going into town. Takes up even less space than the basket and Sif has a place to lie down when we are on a terrace. Evening out for dinner in Antwerp somewhere on the terrace, Sif lies comfortably in her Pouch Roll and lets the world pass by. At home, Sif also has a plaid on the couch that she can snuggle under while she's with us. And Sif is always testing the new products scattered here and there. If she starts using it voluntarily without encouragement from me, it's a success.
What is your own favorite print?
To be perfectly honest, I'm under as much choice stress as many of my customers. I actually like them all. So there are times when I want to make a basket for Sif and myself from the latest fabrics out there as well. So it wants to change quite often in the house. But I see the basket not only as a basket but as part of my interior. I can create accents in my interior with the basket. The "old" baskets are then separate and just like with cushions on the couch, I sometimes change. The 1st basket from Sif is still there, that is "our" favorite, but more out of emotion than print design. That's where everything started.
What do you want to make in the future for STUDIO SIF?
I have so many ideas and am actually always working on new ideas and products. There is still so much that can be made much more beautiful. I have done several products in the past. E.g. 5 years ago I had my own feeding and drinking bowl line, completely handmade by a potter in Limburg. For now there are a number of product ideas on the pile or I am already proofing and testing.
